Fonterra Darfield Boiler Foundations – Description

Ice Excavation has recently completed a three month contract for Delta Utility Services as a sub contract at the new Darfield Fonterra Milk processing plant.

The Contract was made up of three Main excavations for the Boiler Installation one of these was over 8 meters deep. Ice Excavation through careful project management and specific work methods and safety procedures delivered every stage of the contract on time and budget. This was achievable through company owner Hayden Rudd being present on site for most of the tasks to manage the team especially for the deeper excavations; with high risk of machine roll or unstable ground giving way there needed to be great care taken at all times.

Working with project managers and other trades on site was critical, and timing for large concrete pours or crane hire meant careful planning and communication with all involved. The contract has now reached completion however Ice Excavation has since been invited to tender further works that are ongoing at the site.
